Systems Specialists

Role Purpose

  • To support the roll of IT projects on time and in budget while ensuring it meets technology platform & requirements
  • To provide technical recommendations with respect to leading-edge IT development technologies
  • To contribute expertise in the implementation of technically complex migrations & integration solution and transition projects
  • To provide technical input on design, development, implementation for major solutions

Accountabilities

IT Systems Development, Configuration & Testing

  • Provide technical recommendations with respect to leading-edge IT development technologies specifically in the area of Messaging & Integration Technologies
  • Provide technical input on design, development, implementation of major solutions
  • Configure/implement IT systems using the agreed technologies and components (e.g. SOA)
  • Provide/design solution for Non-Functional Requirements
  • Support the IT system deployment process as and when required
  • Meet project milestones and budget
  • Technical Quality assurance and testing for solution within the scope of the domain

Technology, Touchpoint, People and Processes

  • Learn new technologies and where appropriate apply it to the software development process
  • Contribute to the implementation of technically complex migrations & integration solution and transition projects
  • Identify (IT) technology issues/risks early during software development
  • Build an effective relationship with internal and external stakeholders

Finance & Projects

  • Complete assigned task as per committed project schedule
  • Support Project Manager in effectively using the IT Project budget
  • Track and close all IT technical issues 

People Management

  • Communicate effectively & build strong relationships across multiple project teams
  • Be self-motivated and deal with conflict situations in a positive manner
  • Developing self (via training & own learning) on culture,  application and on (new) IT technology

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or IT
  • 3 to 8 years  work experience in IT
  • Preferably experience with Portal, mobile development & wireless technologies
  • Minimum 1 year experience in service oriented architecture and related technologies (e.g. SAG products & Java)  
  • At least 2 years’ experience in technologies relevant to any of the systems:
    • COMET (Customer Opportunity Management and Efficiency Tool)
      • Oracle Siebel CRM, SQL, OS (Windows, Linux or Unix), Shell Script (Perl preferred), DB (Oracle 10G), Programming Languages (Java, J2EE)
    • Clearance
      • Framework - ASP.NET/Microsoft .NET, Java, Nhibernate, Windows Workflow/ Communications Foundation
      • Backend – Microsoft SQL Server, Windows IIS, Websphere MQ
      • Reporting – Jasper Reports, Crystal Reports
      • Integration – SoftwareAG BAM/BPM, Mapforce
  • Knowledge and/or working experience in a cross-cultural environment is desirable
  • Passion for technology; good communicator, positive and can-do attitude
  • Able to work independently (e.g. individual contributor) as well as in a team (e.g. group contributor)
