Responsibilities :
· Assist in optical system concept and architecture development to address customer’s needs
· Select and evaluate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) optical components and subsystems and work with a multidisciplinary team to integrate the optics with instrument hardware.
· Perform in-depth analyses (including tolerance analysis) to evaluate system-level performance.
· Set up and perform detailed modeling of the optical system/subsystem using Zemax OpticStudio, and provide the optical CAD model to mechanical designer for optomechanical integration.
· Provide comprehensive design review reports, verification test plans, etc.
· Set up optical jigs & breadboards/prototypes and support engineering verification tests on instruments.
· Support existing product lines in manufacture (troubleshoot instruments, solve complex problems).
· Collaborate with Venture’s expert optics consultant in mini-innovation-projects to develop novel optical solutions that address current and future technological challenges.
Requirements :
· Master / Degree in Optics or Optical Engineering.
· Minimum of 6 years of work experience in a product development/engineering environment.
· Experience in lens design is not necessary (but beneficial).
· Proficiency in modeling optical systems using Zemax OpticStudio.
· Possess good written and/or oral communication skills (e.g., do you like to blog, write papers, or present?) Comfortable with applying mathematical equations to analyze and solve problems. |
